Plot thoughts

I thought I had my book figured out. And I was excited about it.

Then I had a conversation with hubby. It wasn't even directly about my book. It was about another book I had just read, A Dance for Three by Louise Plummer, and my book changed.

But I believe it changed for the better. I've been writing long enough to know that I find my character way before I find my plot. Which I enjoy and loathe at the same time. This is my question though- how do you know when you've found the right story for your character?

  1. I totally do the same thing...I'm a character writer more than a story writer. Guess that's why my story isn't finished...I have to write my characters perfectly.

  2. I am here from Janette's blog. I had to come over and meet the woman who wants to name her daughter Harper. I so totally love that name and would have done it had I had another girl. (I think my husband prayed for no more girls just so I couldn't get a Harper.) Anyway, glad to have found you on the internet. Way to go on the plot change. My plots usually change when I'm in the bath. Something abouts bubbles frees my mind . . . :)

  3. Oooo, Hi Ashley! Welcome to blogging =)

My latest story came from a song, I knew instantly how I wanted the ending, but then I had to find the beginning and the end. So things keep changing all the time. *sigh*
